#SewMyStyle2018 Reflections – The First 6 months

As we come to the middle of the year we thought it would be a nice idea to reflect back on the first 6 months of #SewMyStyle2018.

7 Garments. 6 generous pattern companies. Numerous hacks. Endless inspiration 🙌🏻

I am so proud of everyone who has committed to Sew My Style this year. People have really embraced the project for what it is meant to be and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones.

Let’s take a look back at my makes for Sew My Style so far this year.

1. Sunny Top & Dress

My Sunny Dress has been my most worn garment out of all the Sew My Style makes this year. It has become such a versatile piece in my wardrobe and I have been able to easily transition it between seasons. This beautiful stipe from Stone Mountain & Daughter is a bit more weighty so perfect for when the weather cools down over tights.

I haven’t had as much wear out of the top but I feel like that is because I have a lack of bottoms to pair it with. I love this bamboo rayon (also from Stone Mountain & Daughter) so I need to make some bottoms to wear with it asap!

2. Estelle Ponte Jacket

To be honest I haven’t worn this one yet! It’s  almost too cold now to wear due to the lack of sleeves but I’m hoping I have a chance to wear it soon.

3. Kalle Shirt Dress

I loveee my Kalle and have plans for many more in my wardrobe. I’m especially keen to try the cropped version as I feel like this is such a cute top. Another versatile piece that has seen me through Autumn & Winter.

4. Marigold Jumpsuit

Again, I haven’t worn this one. I actually didn’t finish either the top or bottoms off properly (the fabric was not right) however I have a cute hack idea I’d like to try out for Spring.

5. Myosotis Dress

One of my favourite makes this year! I absolutely adore the Myosotis dress (apart from all of the gathering!) and plan on adding another one of these into my wardrobe for Spring.

6. Suki Kimono

The most recent #SewMyStyle2018 pattern. I hacked the Suki Kimono into a top and whilst it does need a few adjustments I am so pleased with how it turned out. I will have a blog post with a tutorial up when I make another one (as there will be more!)

We would love to hear your reflections on the first 6 months worth of #SewMyStyle2018 makes!

Thank you so much! I actually wore it the other day – yay! I think I felt a bit too overwhelmed in it due to the thickness of the fabric so I added a belt and loved it so much more x

I super regret not getting the myostis right away! I don’t really wear dresses at the moment bc of small kids but I am so in love with yours I might have to change that!

It’s cute hey! I actually found another pattern that might work better for my vision but I might still do a tutorial for this one.
