January #SewMyStyle2018 Round Up

Oh my gosh what an amazing first month for #sewmystyle2018! Thank you all so much for your amazing support of this project so far. We have already surpassed the total number of sign ups from 2017 - currently we are sitting at just over 1700!

As we come to the end of the first month I wanted to share some of your amazing creations. Whilst people where a bit split about whether they liked the pattern or not, those who did attempt it made some seriously gorgeous versions.

One of the things I loved most about #SewMyStyle in 2017 was seeing people (including myself!) finding a pattern they may not have purchased without the project but absolutely love now! I know a few people were initially put off due to feedback given from other participants but a lot of you took the feedback on board and really made the Sunny your own. In the end this project is called 'Sew My Style' and this is why hacks are very welcome!

It was also so pleasing to see people rocking the 'body skimming' silhouette of this pattern and finding their body confidence.

Friday Pattern Company generously donates 5% of the proceeds of sales from the Sunny Dress / Top to The Against Malaria Foundation. I am so happy to let you know we raised $250 from sales from the Sunny Dress. $2 provides one life saving mosquito net so even a small amount goes a long way.

Congratulations also to our winner for January Lakisha Wilson Johns.  Here is the gorgeous dress she made for her daughter.

I cannot wait to see your makes for February! Have you grabbed your Rumana or Estelle yet? The leaders have some great tips, inspiration & sew-a-long posts planned for the month ahead.

Well done Jessica on running this challenge so well. It was great to see the winner and the participiants so promptly…what beautiful and varied Sunnies!. I took part religiously last year and this vital feedback was definitely missing. I am signed up for #sewmystyle and will be joining in soon. Thanks for your hard work.

    Congratulations, Lakisha!
And thank you to everyone else who sewed this month and gave me the inspiration to keep plugging away at my dress. Knits aren’t my thing, so I had to overcome a lot of psychological barriers to get my done despite the simplicity of the style. But I couldn’t have done it without all of you. Now on to the Rumana Coat – which despite the complexity, doesn’t frighten me nearly as much as the Sunny Dress. Go figure…

    Happy Sewing Everyone!

So glad you gave the Sunny a go Linda despite your barriers! This sewing community really is amazing and I love seeing everyone work together. Haha the Rumana makes me feel a little bit overwhelmed but I’ve heard good things so cannot wait to give it a go x
