I’m hoping you will see a bit more of me and my handmade wardrobe over here from now on once our renos are over and I can get back into my sewing room properly.

It is #sewmystyle2018 reveal day for our May pattern the Myosotis Dress from Deer & Doe Patterns.
I am in LOVE with this dress. It is turned out exactly how I imagined it and I know I am going to get so much wear out of it.
When I purchased this fabric from a fabric destash market a couple of years ago, I originally had it earmarked for a matching top / skirt. I changed my mind and last year I was going to make a tunic Style Cocowawa marshmallow dress out of it. And now here we are 2 years later and I finally used to for my Myosotis. I am actually so glad I still had this fabric in my stash as it is perfect for this dress.
I made view A which includes the sleeve ruffles & ruffle at the hem. These are a super cute addition to this dress although I loathe gathering (it is honestly one of my least favourite sewing tasks) the only alteration I made was to take 1 inch off of the front & back bodice and the facing as I have quite a high natural waist. I am glad I remembered to do this (thanks to someone in the Facebook who also did this) as it sits perfectly now. I am 5’1” so this dress is the perfect length on me, however I know for the taller ladies it has ended up being a little bit short so that is just something to keep in mind.
This dress has a very easy construction as there are no zips or elastic. You are supposed to have 3 buttons at the front but for now I am choosing to leave them off as I quite like the look of it without them.
This fabric is a little bit see through so I will need to wear a slip underneath but apart from that I am totally in love.
Can we also please take a moment to admire these amazing tan boots I picked up for $23 from The Shoe Shed! They go perfectly with this outfit (which if you watch my May Makes video below you will see I wasn’t going to pair this dress with black tights…but I actually love it!)
